Sweater Quest: My Year of Knitting Dangerously
by Adrienne Martini
reviewed by Patty Bonney
Along with my usual stack of mysteries, I came home from the library with a book by a knitter about her knitting. Sweater Quest: My Year of Knitting Dangerously is Adrienne Martini's account of her determination to knit Alice Starmore's Mary Tudor sweater in a twelve month period. She wanders into interesting side paths about Starmore, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, and others lesser known. It's rather like sitting knitting with a friend or a group of friends as the topics range from cost and challenges to family and knitting companions.
She several times mentions Elizabeth Zimmermann (never once spelling the name correctly), and she does use Scotts, which she means the Scots language. Those are minor quibbles. There are sure to be things you relate to in the book.
